
Black Isle Farmers’ Society are delighted to announce that the Dingwall & Thurso, Inverness & Elgin branches of NFU Mutual are the main sponsors of the Black Isle Show for 2023.
President David McKenzie, (front right) said that Society was delighted that the local branches of the NFU continued their support for the show, following on from the introduction of headline sponsorship in 2022. A spokesperson for the NFU Branches said “The Dingwall & Thurso and Elgin & Inverness Agencies are once again proud to be the Headline sponsors of the Black Isle Show in 2024. The show is a real highlight in the farming calendar for many within our area and it is a privilege for the agencies to be able to continue to support the show. We will be in our usual position at stand G95 with catering for our clients and members once again provided by Forbes Farm Fresh. We will be on hand all day to answer any queries you may have around Insurance or NFU Scotland membership. We look forward to seeing everyone there and we wish the show every success for 2023.”
The plans are coming together for the 184th annual Black Isle Show being held on the Mannsfield Showground in Muir of Ord at the start of August. Wednesday 2nd August sees a preview event with the gates opening at 4pm, and Show Day is Thursday 3rd August, with gates opening at 8am. Premium Lists, Schedules and entry forms have been circulated to previous exhibitors and are now available on our website, and the society looks forward to welcoming both previous and new exhibitors to the show.
President, David, added that the Society is currently recruiting teams for the Charity Tractor Push which takes place on the Wednesday evening, and would urge teams to come forward to take part in this event. Teams can be from any walk of life, they need to nominate a charity or local good cause, for prize money to be donated to. Teams of five are required, four to push and one to drive. If anyone can muster a team and has a favourite charity or local good cause, please contact the show office either by email or phone for an application form.
This year the main ring attraction sees Stuntworld International Stunt Show perform in the main ring. On Wednesday evening the Showjumping Finals are held, also in the main ring there will be a dog agility display. Thursday sees the livestock competitions which start early in the morning at 8am. The ever-colourful Flower Show takes entries in during the morning of 2nd August with judging done at 2pm, once the judging is completed the flower shed is then open to the viewing public. In 2022 the companion dog show was reintroduced and makes a return this year. Entry forms for this are available on the day from 12 noon, with the dog show judging taking place at 1pm.
